Food that is said to be halal and thayyib in the Qur'an is that food must have four characteristics. The four characteristics are: a) The food must be halal, both in terms of its substance and in terms of how to get it and in terms of how to process it. b) The food must contain sufficient and balanced nutrition for consumption. c) Be a person who is proportional in taking food, in the sense that it is in accordance with the needs of consumers, not more or less. d) These foods must be safe when consumed.
