Fuji Arifzapni Filsafat Ilmu dan Integritas Akademik dalam Penulisan Karya Ilmiah
Abstract
Scientific writing is an academic activity grounded in the principles of the philosophy of science, particularly those related to the structure of knowledge, the process of attaining scientific truth, and the ethical responsibilities of researchers. In the context of modern academia, scientific works function not only as a medium of scholarly communication but also as essential instruments for advancing knowledge through verification and replication. However, many students and novice researchers still lack adequate understanding of the various types of scientific works, research ethics, and proper academic writing procedures, which may result in outputs that do not meet academic standards. This study employs a Literature Review method by analyzing relevant literature concerning the philosophy of science, ethical writing practices, and techniques for developing scientific papers. Data were analyzed through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings indicate that scientific works exist in various forms, such as papers, journal articles, undergraduate theses, master’s theses, dissertations, and research reports—each with distinct structures and levels of complexity. In addition, academic ethical codes—such as scientific honesty, anti-plagiarism principles, the prohibition of data fabrication and falsification, as well as authorship ethics—form the foundation of scientific integrity. High-quality scientific writing requires a systematic process, including topic selection, literature review, methodological formulation, drafting, revision, and final editing. This article asserts that scientific writing is not merely a technical skill but an intellectual endeavor that demands critical, analytical, and ethical reasoning. Therefore, understanding the philosophy of science is crucial for producing scientific works that are valid, logical, and accountable.
