BUDAYA LOKAL SEBAGAI MEDIA DAKWAH
Studi Pada Tradisi Jamasan Bende Desa Bumijawa Kabupaten Tegal
Abstract
Local traditions are an effective medium for preaching in conveying Islamic values contextually within the community. This study aims to analyze the function of the Jamasan Bende Tradition as a medium for preaching and to identify the preaching values contained within it. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research. Data were obtained through documentation studies of various relevant scientific sources and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results indicate that the Jamasan Bende Tradition in Bumijawa Village, Tegal Regency, functions as a cultural preaching medium that integrates Islamic values with local culture. The preaching function in this tradition is realized through bil-lisan preaching in the form of prayers, dhikr, shalawat, and commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday; symbolic preaching through the use of Bulakan Spring water and a bende as symbols of self-purification, gratitude, and collective identity of the community; and bil-hal preaching through the practice of mutual cooperation, togetherness, and social solidarity. Furthermore, the Jamasan Bende tradition embodies da'wah values encompassing theological, social, and educational dimensions of Islam. This tradition not only strengthens the community's spirituality and Islamic identity but also serves as a means of internalizing Islamic values in a participatory and sustainable manner.
