Abstract

This study examines the experiences of the Christian minority in Kunangan Parit Rantang Village, Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency, who face limitations in conducting worship outside the church (congregation). The objectives of the study are first, to explain how the Christian community in Kunangan Parit Rantang, Sijunjung Regency, maintains its identity as a Christian minority community but blends into the Muslim majority community; and second, to explain how the Christian community in Kunangan Parit Rantang carries out worship according to Christian teachings in a Muslim majority environment and how the Muslim majority community responds there. This research was conducted through a qualitative case study approach that focuses on one location in Sijunjung Regency, namely Kunangan Parit Rantang. The results of the study describe the social and religious conditions in Kunangan Parit Rantang Village as a multicultural area that upholds the value of tolerance between religious communities. Although the Christian community as a minority does not have an official house of worship, they can still consistently carry out worship in residents' homes without experiencing discrimination. Support from the Muslim majority community, as well as inclusive government policies, demonstrates a harmonious relationship and mutual respect amidst differences. The Christian minority community is also actively forming organizations to strengthen their religious and cultural identity, as well as integrating into educational, social, and economic activities. Thus, this region serves as a living example of peaceful, adaptive, and mutually supportive religious life amidst diversity.
