Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Jurnal Edukatif Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan Institut Agama Islam Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin Sambas welcomes scholarly comments, critiques, and responses concerning articles published in the journal. Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for readers, authors, researchers, and the academic community to examine research findings, evaluate scholarly arguments, clarify interpretations, and contribute to the accuracy and development of academic knowledge.
This policy reflects the journal's commitment to academic freedom, constructive scholarly dialogue, publication ethics, and the integrity of the scholarly record. Its implementation refers to relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Scope of Discussion
Post-publication discussions may address research approaches, methodologies, literature reviews, the use of sources, data interpretation, theoretical frameworks, arguments, conclusions, and the practical or theoretical implications of published articles.
Discussions may also identify factual errors, methodological limitations, inconsistencies, or information that requires clarification.
Given Jurnal Edukatif's focus on education, teacher training, Islamic education, and related academic disciplines, scholarly dialogue may address educational theories, teaching methods, curriculum development, learning assessment, educational policy, Islamic educational thought, and other relevant topics.
Differences in interpretation, theoretical perspectives, research methods, and scholarly conclusions are recognized as legitimate elements of academic discussion. Contributors are expected to engage with published work through reasoned arguments, relevant evidence, appropriate references, and respect for differing scholarly perspectives.
2. Submission of Comments
Comments, critiques, and responses concerning published articles should be submitted through the official contact channels provided on the Jurnal Edukatif website.
Contributors should provide their name and contact information, the title or DOI of the article under discussion, a clear description of the issues being addressed, and supporting evidence or references where appropriate.
Contributors must disclose any relevant conflicts of interest, professional relationships, financial interests, or other circumstances that could reasonably influence their comments.
Submissions must be clear, proportionate, constructive, and focused on substantive scholarly issues. Personal attacks, discriminatory language, harassment, unsupported accusations, defamatory statements, and promotional material are not acceptable.
Anonymous reports concerning possible research or publication misconduct may be assessed separately under the journal's Research Misconduct and Allegations Policy when they contain sufficiently specific and verifiable information.
3. Editorial Assessment
The editor or an authorized member of the editorial team will assess submitted comments for relevance, clarity, scholarly value, supporting arguments, and their potential contribution to understanding the published article.
Where necessary, the editor may request revisions, further clarification, additional references, or an assessment by an appropriately qualified independent expert.
Editors or reviewers with relevant conflicts of interest must not participate in decisions concerning the submission.
Not all comments will necessarily be accepted for publication. Editorial decisions will be based on scholarly merit, relevance to the journal's readership, factual accuracy, and compliance with publication ethics standards.
Substantiated criticism will not be rejected solely because it challenges the findings, interpretations, or conclusions of a published article or disagrees with the views of the authors or editors.
4. Opportunity for Authors to Respond
When a submitted comment raises substantive questions about a published article, the editor may forward the comment to the original authors and invite them to provide a response within a specified timeframe.
Authors' responses should address the issues raised directly, explain the reasoning behind their original arguments where appropriate, and provide relevant evidence, references, or methodological clarification.
The editor may assess the comment and response together to ensure that both contribute meaningfully to the scholarly discussion.
Comments and responses may be edited for clarity, language, length, and presentation, provided that their substantive arguments are not misrepresented.
An author's decision not to respond does not automatically prevent publication of a comment that has been assessed as suitable for publication.
5. Publication and Traceability
Accepted comments, critiques, and responses may be published as scholarly correspondence, a commentary, a letter to the editor, or another appropriate publication format determined by the editor.
Where available and appropriate, the original authors' responses will be published alongside or linked to the relevant comment.
Published comments and responses should include sufficient bibliographic information and links to the article under discussion so that readers can follow the exchange in its original scholarly context.
Publication of a comment does not imply that Jurnal Edukatif endorses every view expressed. Contributors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, appropriate attribution, and scholarly integrity of their arguments.
The original article will not be amended solely because an alternative interpretation, criticism, or scholarly disagreement has been presented. Any necessary amendment to the article will be considered separately under the journal's Correction, Expression of Concern, and Retraction Policy.
6. Follow-Up on Errors and Allegations of Misconduct
If a post-publication discussion identifies a factual, methodological, or other substantive error that may affect the accuracy or reliability of a published article, the editor will assess whether further action is warranted.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, the journal may request clarification from the authors, consult independent experts, or consider publishing a correction, an Expression of Concern, or a retraction in accordance with its applicable policies and relevant COPE guidance.
Substantive changes to published articles will not be made silently. Editorial actions will be documented and appropriately linked to the affected article to preserve the transparency and traceability of the scholarly record.
Comments containing allegations of research or publication misconduct will be assessed under the journal's Research Misconduct and Allegations Policy. Scholarly criticism does not, by itself, establish an ethical violation, and the post-publication discussion process does not replace a formal assessment of suspected misconduct.
7. Ethical Standards and Editorial Responsibility
All contributors participating in post-publication discussions are expected to uphold honesty, fairness, academic integrity, respect for intellectual differences, and responsible scholarly communication.
Jurnal Edukatif reserves the right to decline, request revisions to, or discontinue consideration of comments that are irrelevant, insufficiently substantiated, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, or inconsistent with the journal's publication ethics standards.
Editorial decisions will be made impartially, with due consideration for academic freedom, the rights of the parties concerned, and the reliability of the scholarly record.
Through this policy, Jurnal Edukatif seeks to foster a constructive academic environment in which published research can be critically examined, scholarly disagreements can be addressed respectfully, and new insights can contribute to the advancement of education, Islamic education, teacher training, and related fields of knowledge.
