Plagiarism Policy

Southeast Asia Journal of Graduate of Islamic Business and Economics (SAJGIBE) is firmly committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing any form of academic misconduct, including plagiarism and self-plagiarism.

  • Originality Requirement: All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are entirely responsible for the originality and contents of their submitted papers.

  • Plagiarism Screening: Every manuscript submitted to SAJGIBE undergoes strict similarity checking before being assigned to peer reviewers. The screening is performed using professional similarity detection software, primarily Turnitin (or iThenticate).

  • Similarity Threshold:

    • The maximum overall similarity index allowed for a manuscript to proceed to the review process is 20%.

    • Matches from single individual sources should not exceed 3% to avoid block plagiarism.

    • Common phrases, standard methodological descriptions, quotes, and the reference list may be excluded from the final percentage calculation if properly cited.

  • Handling Misconduct:

    • Similarity between 20% – 25%: The manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision and mandatory rewriting before it can be processed further.

    • Similarity exceeding 25% (or substantial uncredited text duplication): The manuscript will be rejected outright without undergoing peer review.

    • If plagiarism or data fabrication is discovered post-publication, the editorial board reserves the right to issue a formal correction or retract the published article in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
